Making JJC the first choice for our community not only serves as the college’s vision statement, it is truly my guiding principle. My personal commitment to you is that JJC will continue to provide access to high-quality education for all in a welcoming, diverse, and equitable environment. Nearly 27,000 students annually enroll in academic and continuing education programs at the college. Did you know that JJC offers over 180 degree and certificate programs? These innovative programs provide opportunities in the most progressive areas in science, business, fine arts, health care, and technical areas, to name a few. The college offers nine Guided Academic Pathways that make it easier for students to choose their major. At JJC, we provide many options that will help you achieve your educational goals. The college offers programs for students planning to transfer to a four-year university; occupational and technical education leading directly to employment; adult education and literacy programs; personal development courses; workforce training programs; and support services like new student orientation, personal and career counseling, and tutoring centers to help students succeed. Your access to quality education is important. To maintain student access the college has provided emergency laptops to students in need throughout the pandemic. In 2020, JJC students were awarded $757,089 in scholarships to support their educational goals. Creating pathways to financial support is critical and at JJC, it is a priority to provide that assistance. An additional $2.7 million total was distributed to students under the federal CARES Act. Ultimately, we all deserve educational opportunity. It is my promise to you and to our community that we will work diligently to maintain access to quality education for you and for future generations. Sincerely, Judy Mitchell, Ed.D.
